DIY Solar Eclipse Glasses

Creating Your Own Viewing Device

With the upcoming solar eclipse, it's crucial to have safe viewing glasses to protect your eyes. Here's how to craft your own homemade solar eclipse glasses:

Materials:

• Large piece of poster board or card stock
• Aluminum foil or Mylar
• Scissors
• Tape

Instructions:

1. Cut two large rectangles out of the poster board or card stock, large enough to cover your eyes.
2. Cut two smaller rectangles out of the aluminum foil or Mylar, slightly smaller than the card stock rectangles.
3. Attach the aluminum foil or Mylar rectangles to the inside of the card stock rectangles, lining them up with the edges.
4. Tape securely around the edges to create a light-proof seal.

Caution:

• Do not look directly at the sun without certified solar eclipse glasses.
• Protect your eyes during the entire eclipse, including the partial phases.
